A New Chapter Begins
About a month ago, TerraLuna began a new chapter as Henk, the LizzardKing, Mandi, the WolfQueen, and Ruan, Corporal Carrot, moved to the community on a semi-permanent basis. Their presence marked the start of significant growth and development within TerraLuna.
Welcoming New Members
Shortly after their arrival, the community welcomed three new members: Marie, Jason, and Corne. While Marie initially seemed like a promising addition, it became clear over time that the fit was not ideal. The decision was made for a separation, and Marie has since been in the process of moving on.
On the other hand, Jason has proven to be an invaluable member, quickly becoming integral to the community. His recommendation led to the addition of Corne, who has also exceeded expectations. Jason has taken charge of managing both the agricultural aspects and the infrastructure of TerraLuna, ensuring the community’s farming initiatives and structural projects are thriving. Corne has been equally impressive, excelling in her role in housekeeping and contributing significantly to the overall well-being of the community.
A Loss and New Additions
Tragedy struck when Pepper and Stark, the beloved huskies and firstborns to Henk and Mandi, escaped into a neighboring farm and were lost to poisoned carcasses. This heartbreaking event was a significant blow to the community.
In the wake of this loss, TerraLuna found new joy in the addition of four more dogs. Mr. Brown and Po, both Jack Russells, joined the family, bringing their energetic and playful spirits. Additionally, the community welcomed Ragnor and Lathgertha, two majestic wolf dogs. These new members were a heartfelt gift from Tannie Biebie, a token of the wider Kromdraai community’s love and acceptance of TerraLuna, especially in light of the sorrowful news about Pepper and Stark.
Community Integration
The acceptance and support from the Kromdraai community have been immensely encouraging for TerraLuna. The gift of Ragnor and Lathgertha was not only a gesture of sympathy but also a sign of the growing bonds and mutual respect between TerraLuna and its neighbors.
Feathered Friends and Community Support
Jason also managed to get two chickens and two turkeys sponsored for TerraLuna. The local community pitched in, providing water troughs and advice through Riaan, the owner of the farm where the shop Soetwater is situated. This support has been vital in helping TerraLuna’s agricultural initiatives thrive.
Sponsorship Successes
Ruan has been busy securing many additional sponsorships and opportunities, which the community aims to achieve soonest. His efforts are paving the way for TerraLuna’s bright future.
The Inverter Incident
Henk’s parents, Jan and Alta, played a crucial role in supporting the community when Henk accidentally blew the old inverter in week one of this community-building adventure. They bought a new inverter, saving the day (and the electricity). The community now lovingly tells Henk not to work with electricity—on his mom’s recommendation. However, true to his curious nature, Henk still sneaks a peek and fiddles where he probably shouldn’t, much to everyone’s amusement.
Building Gecko Corner
Currently, the community is busy building Gecko Corner, their campsite. Jason, in his role overseeing infrastructure, has been instrumental in coordinating this project. The campsite aims to provide a serene and welcoming space for visitors and community members alike. To celebrate the progress, TerraLuna will be hosting a braai (barbecue) this coming weekend for some members of the broader community. It promises to be an event filled with good food, laughter, and the strengthening of bonds with neighbors.
Moving Forward
As TerraLuna continues to evolve, the focus remains on building a strong, supportive, and self-sustaining community. The contributions of dedicated members like Jason and Corne are paving the way for a bright future. The new additions to the family, both human and canine, are strengthening the community’s foundation and spirit.
Despite the challenges and the occasional need for difficult decisions, TerraLuna is steadily moving towards its vision of a harmonious and thriving community. The journey so far has been marked by growth, resilience, and an ever-deepening connection to both its members and the surrounding community.
